Marko TUOMELA

When Colin Todd signed Tuomela on loan from Norwegian side Tromsø in September 2000, he was introduced to the Town fans as a Finnish international who had partnered Liverpool defender Sami Hyypiä in the national side. Though this was true, quite how was a bit of a mystery - Tuomela played in just four games for Swindon, after making his debut as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on 12th September, his final game came just two weeks later, when he was substituted at half-time in a Carling Cup defeat at home to Tranmere. Despite being a giant defender, Todd slated Tuomela after the game for "not winning headers", and having failed to impress, his loan period was cut short, and he returned to Norway.
