A striker signed on loan from Leyton Orient in March 2012, Tehoue made his debut as a second half substitute in a 1-0 home victory over fellow promotion chasers Cheltenham three days after signing. He made his only start in the next game - a 2-0 defeat at Crewe - before a ten minute cameo in a crucial 2-0 victory over Torquay. Though the loan deal was supposed to run until the end of the season, after being left out of the squad to face Bristol Rovers, Town boss Paolo di Canio confirmed that Tehoue was unlikely to play for the club again - stating that Tehoue wasn't as good as he expected, and that he preferred the other strikers at his disposal. After the season ended though, the Daily Mail claimed that di Canio was at the centre of a race row - with Tehoue reporting the Town boss to the FA for an alleged racist remark. The Town board were quick to come to the defence of di Canio, confirming that they had already investigated the incident, and that they were satisfied that the claims were without merit. Soon after, it came to light that the club had initially apologised to Tehoue - but this was again rebuffed by the board, who stated that the apology, which had been made by solicitors acting on behalf of the club, was premature - the statement going on to question Tehoue's motives in complaining to the FA, and also stating that the Frenchman was in breach of contract for refusing to attend a training session. DI Canio kept quiet on the subject until returning to Swindon after a post-season holiday, and he was confident in his assessment - stating that when the truth came out, "only one person will be in trouble, and it won't be Paolo di Canio".
