Kevin STEWART | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Stewart played five games for Swindon after signing on loan from Liverpool for the 2015/16 season before suffering a medial ligament injury against Newport County which ended his spell at Town. A versatile player who could play across defence and midfield, Stewart signed alongside Liverpool teammate Jordan Williams, meaning that Town simultaneously had Kevin Stewart, Jordan Stewart, Jordan Williams, Jordan Young and Jordan Turnbull in their squad. Thankfully for the Radio Wiltshire commentary teams, only Turnbull appeared regularly. Stewart made his debut in the 4-1 win over Bradford at the County Ground on the opening day, with Williams (Jordan) and Stewart (Kevin) completing the midfield either side of Yaser Kasim. They impressed that day, but it was a big ask to expect the two loanees to replace the departed Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin. Neither would remain in the side beyond the end of September, although in Stewart’s case that was partially due to his injury. He failed to regain his place in the squad on return from injury though, and was recalled by Liverpool in January, having been kept out of the side by such luminaries as Drissa Traore, Anton Rodgers and Momar Bangoura.
