A member of Town’s youth academy, left back Spalding was not offered a professional contract at the end of his youth scholarship in May 2018 and went on to play for Cirencester Town and Swindon Supermarine. The high point of his time at Town was being named amongst the substitutes for a home game against Shrewsbury in January 2017, but he went unused despite left back James Brophy being sent off in the 70th minute, and did not make another matchday squad.
