Colin PROPHETT

Danny Williams brought Prophett to the County Ground, originally on loan in September 1974, Prophett having previously played under the Town manager at Sheffield Wednesday.

A tall, slim centre-half with a Mexican-style moustache, "The Prof" was a firm fans favourite. During his four year stay at Swindon, he made 158 appearances, and became the club captain. He was well-known for being a real all-rounder - helping to coach local teams, running keep-fit classes and playing a reasonable standard of cricket - and even being utilised as an emergency goalkeeper when the situation arose!

He left the club at the beginning of the 1978/1979 season, when he moved back to the Sheffield area to join Chesterfield.
