Harry PARSONS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Swindon born striker, Parsons joined the Town academy in 2011 at the age of nine. A prolific goal scorer throughout the age groups, he was awarded a scholarship in 2019 - and was called up to the first team squad for an EFL Trophy game against Bristol Rovers in November 2019, where he made his senior debut against a strong Rovers side. He made his league debut just over a year later - making two late substitute appearances in defeats at Crewe and Gillingham in December 2020 - and he was the only academy player to be offered professional terms at the end of the season. Bizarrely though, though it was announced that Parsons had signed a two-year professional contract in June 2021, he was left in limbo when, with the Town in the midst of a messy court battle for control of the club, the contract he had signed turned out to be invalid. Once Clem Morfuni took control of the club the following month, Parsons soon signed a valid contract, stated to be an improved offer that "reflects Harry’s progression within the first-team group and is a reward for his fantastic recent development." Parsons spent the following season on the fringes of the first-team squad, making his full debut in the Carabao Cup First Round tie at Cambridge, soon followed by his first League start in a 0-0 draw with Tranmere in August 2021 - going on to make fifteen further appearances from the bench as well as three starts in the EFL Trophy, either side of a two-month loan spell at Chippenham. Come the end of the season, Parsons signed another new deal for the 2022/23 season. PLAYING RECORD:
