Tyrese OMOTOYE | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Born in Belgium to Nigerian parents, Omotoye was raised in London and came through the Norwich City youth academy before signing on loan for Swindon in January 2021, where he was expected to replace existing loan forward Tyler Smith. Somewhere along the way there must have been a communications breakdown as Sheffield United refused to recall Smith, leaving Town with both players on the books and seemingly little appetite to play either of them. Omotoye was thrown straight into the first team within 24 hours of joining, replacing Brett Pitman as the loan striker at the County Ground against Plymouth. He lasted 66 minutes before being replaced by the more experienced man, and that was more or less than for Omotoye’s involvement in a red shirt. He made six more appearances from the bench, but only two of those were for more than 20 minutes, and he didn’t make a great impact in those. For a young player looking to develop and learn by playing lower league football, Omotoye must have been disappointed by his first team chances, and it’s unlikely his spell in SN1 will live long in his, or Town fans’ memories.
