Luke NIGHTINGALE

With Eric Sabin lacking form and goals, Nightingale was signed on Christmas Eve 2002 on loan from Portsmouth. He made his debut on Boxing Day in a 2-1 home win against Brentford, but he lasted only 65 minutes before being replaced by Sabin! His second start for Swindon ended sooner after he was replaced (by Sabin again) early in the second half, in the 2-0 loss away at Wigan Athletic. Having failed to make an immediate impression, Nightingale was an unused sub for an away draw at Cardiff City and home win against Chesterfield, and his final appearance in a Swindon shirt occurred in a hectic final ten minutes away at Stockport County - he came on the pitch with Swindon 3-0 up and left the pitch at full-time with Swindon 5-2 winners! Despite having failed to score during his time at Swindon, when his contract at Pompey expired, he returned to the County Ground for a trial period at the end of the season. Having not signed a contract, he ended up on a short-term deal at Southend, before slipping into non-league football.
