David MUNKS

Midway through the 1973/74 season, Swindon were rooted to the bottom of the Second Division, and they turned to the experience of former England youth international David Munks to help lift them out of it. He signed from Portsmouth on December 20, and made his debut two days later in a 2-2 draw with Orient.

Despite being a defender throughout his career, Town manager Les Allen played Munks in an unfamiliar midfield role, and he only reverted to his usual position when Danny Williams returned at the end of that season. Unfortunately, by now the Town were virtually relegated, and Munks was told he was surplus to requirements for the following season. After just four league appearances that year, he joined Exeter after a two month loan spell.

He made just twenty appearances for City, when his career was abruptly ended by a knee injury.
