Ben MORTON

Swindon's first ever four-figure signing, Morton was brought to the club by Ted Vizard in October 1937, from Torquay United.

He wasn't an instant success - he failed to score in his first ten games for the club, but he broke his duck late on in an FA Cup Third Round replay versus Grimsby in January, sending the tie into extra time. He was smothered by his team-mates, and when he found his feet, he was covered in mud - his red shirt barely recognisable!
