Rollin MENAYESE | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo but raised in Newport, South Wales from the age of five, centre back Menayese captained Wales at youth level and joined Town on loan from Bristol Rovers on deadline day in January 2018. Named amongst the substitutes at Lincoln a few days later, he made an earlier debut than planned when Matt Preston saw red in the 21st minute, requiring Menayese’s introduction at the expense of striker Luke Norris. Despite 10-man Town conceding a late equaliser, Menayese had impressed manager Phil Brown enough to win a starting spot, and played every minute of the next ten games as Town’s playoff ambitions faltered. Having been dropped after a poor run, Menayese was restored to the side to face Newport County in April after an injury to Olly Lancashire. It was to be an unhappy return to his hometown as he was sent off for two bookable offences in eight second half minutes. Menayese returned to Bristol Rovers at the end of the season, and subsequently had short and unspectacular spells at Aldershot and Mansfield. PLAYING RECORD:
