Linton, an experienced defender, joined Swindon on loan from lower league Peterborough United in March 1999, to help ensure Swindon would stay in the First Division. The first league games of Linton’s spell at the club resulted in a 4-0 loss at Q.P.R and a 6-0 stuffing at home to Ipswich Town! He went on to make a total of eight appearances for the Town.
