The highly-rated captain of Aston Villa’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2021, right back Kesler-Hayden seemed a loan signing of the highest calibre when he joined in the summer of 2021, and he hit the ground running on the first day of the season, winning a penalty that Jack Payne converted as Town came from behind to win at Scunthorpe. His second game in Town colours was a back down to earth moment, as received a second yellow card late on against Carlisle. Over the first part of the season, Kesler-Hayden became a regular starter despite the presence of Rob Hunt in the squad, impressing with his attacking play in particular. As might be expected for a young player, he was not the model of consistency, but he certainly had more good games than bad. His most impressive performance in a Town shirt was also to prove his last, against Manchester City in the League Cup. With new Villa manager Steven Gerrard watching on Sky, Kesler-Hayden was the standout Town player despite being up against Gabriel Jesus down the City left. He was recalled by Villa two days later and, later in the month, sent back out on loan to Milton Keynes a division higher, where he made another 17 appearances. Despite only being at Swindon for half the season, playing 21 games, Kesler-Hayden was named Town’s young player of the season at the 2021/22 club end of season awards. PLAYING RECORD:
