Chris JONES

One of the unlucky members of the squad not to be included in the 1969 League Cup Final winning squad, Jones was originally signed from Manchester City for a club record fee of £15,000 in July 1968, after impressing on City's tour of America.

In his first season, Jones made only six appearances up until January, when his fortunes changed - he scored twice in the Town's 5-3 win over Tranmere on the 24th, then followed it up four days later with a hat-trick in the 5-1 win at bottom-of-the-table Oldham.

Jones also scored the goal that clinched promotion for the Town that season, an 89th minute equaliser at Rotherham United - and was part of the Anglo-Italian Cup winning squad.

The arrival of Arthur Horsfield restricted Jones' first team appearances, and he left the club to join Walsall, after a period at Oldham on loan.
