Jake JERVIS

A striker signed on an initial month loan deal at the end of September 2011, Jervis made his debut at Macclesfield, joining the action on the hour, before marking his full debut with both goals in a 2-1 win over Exeter in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Though Town boss Paolo di Canio praised his performance, he also encouraged Jervis to show more "anger" in front of goal - and the striker started each of the next nine games, scoring twice - after his loan was extended until the end of December. After signing the deal, Jervis said it took him just days after arriving at Swindon to realise he would like to stay for longer - with di Canio also praising his hardworking attitude.

By the end of November, rumours were rife that Birmingham were planning to thrust Jervis directly into their squad pushing for promotion from the Championship upon his return - Jervis however vowed to ignore the speculation, and did so by netting the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Aldershot, before recording his fifth goal for the Town in a 3-0 win over Morecambe in mid-December. When his loan expired over the Christmas period, di Canio confirmed that he was in talks with Birmingham to keep him for longer - but as soon as Jervis had returned to St Andrews, another deal was done for him to join League One Preston for another loan spell.
