Swindon born and bred, and part of Town’s academy from the age of six, versatile midfielder Haines was given his first professional contract in May 2019 and embarked on the familiar pattern of a loan spell with a local club - in his case Chippenham Town. He impressed enough at Hardenhuish Park to win a second season at Town, this time largely spent on loan with National League North side Hereford. Haines did make his Town debut in the 2020/21 season in the EFL Trophy, playing the full 90 minutes against Forest Green Rovers alongside Matt Smith, as Anthony Grant was given a rare game off. After the game, he returned to Hereford where, playing primarily as a defender, he was a core part of the Bulls side that reached the 2021 FA Trophy final at Wembley. In May, Haines himself confirmed on Twitter that he had chosen to leave Swindon in February, although the Town made no statement about Haines at the time or later. PLAYING RECORD:
