Joel GRANT | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jamaica international Grant played against Town eight times for four different clubs, scoring twice, between 2008-2020 before signing on at the County Ground as a 33 year-old in September 2020 after a successful trial. Initially utilised as a substitute, with Jonny Smith preferred in Grant’s preferred right wing position, he made his Town debut from the bench away at Blackpool, before scoring on his first league start against Hull at the end of October, converting an excellent Town move to give them a surprise win over the high flying Tigers. Grant would make another eight starts over the winter months, but did not score again, and made only one substitute appearance between the end of November and the start of March thanks to a combination of injuries and other players being preferred. The final months of the season saw Grant being regularly used as a substitute, and all of his last seven Town appearances came from the bench. He struggled to make much impact though, and it wasn’t a huge surprise when his contract was not renewed at the end of the season. PLAYING RECORD:
