Matt GEMMELL

An expensive signing seen as a failure at the County Ground, Gemmell was a Glaswegian inside forward who made eight appearances for Swindon after joining from Portsmouth in October 1954. Gemmell refused terms with the Town at the end of the season, instead choosing to return to Scotland, where he sat out the 1955/56 season. After a short trial with Berwick Rangers in July 1956, Gemmell re-signed for Swindon on part-time terms in the September, but he failed to break into the first team - moving to Yeovil the following summer.
