A Dutch winger signed on a two year deal in July 2011 after a successful trial spell that began during the Town's pre-season tour of Italy - on the day he signed, Esajas played less than half an hour of a friendly match at Cirencester before dislocating his shoulder - an injury that would keep him out of the season's opener. Esajas made his Town debut in the second game of the season, coming on as a second half substitute in a 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham - after an encouraging performance, he made his full debut three days later in another defeat at Dagenham, and he started again the following weekend, in a 2-1 home defeat to Oxford. After being withdrawn during the second half, Esajas was dropped to the bench in favour of Raffaele de Vita – Town boss Paolo di Canio choosing to utilise the striker on the wing rather than Esajas in his usual position – and as Swindon’s form began to pick up after a poor start, Esajas drifted out of the first team squad. Returning to the squad in November for a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Wimbledon after two months out, Esajas came on in the second half and gave a man-of-the-match performance – and he was unlucky not to open his Town account with a couple of superb long range strikes, one of which rattled the crossbar. Though Esajas expressed his pleasure at being featured in the side again, it proved to be short-lived – and though he made three more appearances from the bench over the next month, Esajas soon found himself completely exiled from the squad. At the end of the season, Esajas was named as one of five players that would remain at the club for three extra weeks of training – di Canio calling the group “lazy” – when the three weeks was up, Esajas came to an agreement with Swindon to cancel his contract.
