Egbo’s Town career started in unusual circumstances. Having worked with Ben Garner during his youth career at Crystal Palace, Egbo was training with Town as an uncontracted player for several months to rebuild his fitness after a spell with New York Red Bulls had come to an end, but head coach Ben Garner made it clear in the local press that he was unlikely to sign for the club. That changed when injury struck regular right back Rob Hunt in early March. Furnished with a short-term contract, Egbo initially was used as an impact substitute and indeed looked bright coming off the bench, usually in a very advanced role on the right-hand side. Handed his first start away at Harrogate in April, Egbo still struggled to play a full ninety minutes and only completed one of his seven starts - but he impressed with his direct running from full back, including a cross to set up the opening goal for Harry McKirdy on the final day of the season at Walsall. After an unsuccessful play-off campaign, social media posts seemed to suggest that Egbo was ready to extend his stay at the County Ground - that was until Garner resigned to take over at Charlton, Egbo soon following him to The Valley.
