Daren DYKES | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A former Tottenham trainee, Dykes was signed from non-league Buckingham Town on a free transfer, after a successful trial spell before the start of the 2002/2003 season. He made his debut in the Worthington Cup defeat at home to Wycombe on 11th September 2001, before being loaned out to Lincoln at the end of December, to gain first team experience. His full league debut for Swindon came in April 2003, when he impressed in the 1-0 defeat at home to Huddersfield. It proved to be the only league game he started for the Town - Dykes asked to be released from his contract at the end of the season, so he could return to Buckingham to play in the last few games of their season. Town manager Andy King was obviously unimpressed, though he did say he would visit Buckingham to watch Dykes, before deciding on whether to offer him a contract for the coming season. PLAYING RECORD:
