Thomas DOSSEVI | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Togolese international striker, Dossevi signed for the Town on a year's contract in August 2010, shortly after scoring twice against Nottingham Forest in a pre-season friendly, whilst on trial. He made his debut in the opening game of the season the following weekend - a 2-1 home defeat by Brighton in which Dossevi was visibly struggling with the competitive nature of the game - the Seagulls' defender Adam El-Abd giving him an uncomfortable introduction to League One football, and a frustrated Dossevi was withdrawn at half-time. Dossevi opened his Town account the following weekend - having come on as a second half substitute on the hour, he scored with a superb finish against Hartlepool, helping the Town to come from two goals down to draw the game. However, though Dossevi's workrate couldn't be faulted, he struggled to come to terms with the English game - so much so that manager Danny Wilson went on record to say that he thought the striker was trying too hard after missing two golden chances in a home defeat to Plymouth in September - Dossevi himself even turning down an international call-up to help settle in. Perhaps because of his desperation to do well, he regularly found himself in offside positions and committed clumsy fouls, to the frustation of the Town's support - and he was in and out of the side during his entire stay at the County Ground, as Swindon were relegated to the fourth tier, Dossevi netting just three times over the course of the season. Before the season was up, new manager Paul Hart decided that he would be surplus to requirements, and his contract was terminated by mutual consent at the end of April. PLAYING RECORD:
