Nathan DELFOUNESO | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A player who was highly rated as a youngster, Delfouneso was signed by Town manager Luke Williams in August 2016, after his release by Blackburn. At twenty-five years old, the much travelled striker was an exciting prospect for Town fans when he arrived, having been a regular goalscorer for England at under-16, 17, 19 and 21 levels, and previously having made his league debut for Aston Villa, where he scored twice in the Premier League. After making his debut in a 1-0 win at Port Vale, a run of matches saw energetic displays from the Birmingham born front man, but he didn't settle in the area, and his style of play didn't seem to fit - he netted just one League goal for the Town in his eighteen appearances, in a 3-0 win over Rochdale in mid-October - before his time at Swindon was cut short, being released from his contract to allow him to return to Blackpool for a fourth spell at Bloomfield Road.
