STFC trivia fans will in future ask the question ‘Can you name the two central defenders with double-barrelled surnames signed on loan from Huddersfield inside two years in 2020/1.’ Romoney Critchlow-Noble is one half of the answer, alongside Rarmani Edmonds-Green. After being identified by this extremely specific Town recruitment policy, Crichlow joined on a season long loan in the summer of 2021, and quickly became a fixture in the first team with Town regularly deploying three central defenders. After a debut appearance from the bench at Scunthorpe, Crichlow made his full debut in the League Cup and then scored on his first league start four days later, stabbing home a loose ball inside the box from a free kick to equalise against Carlisle. As a ball-playing defender, he was a regular and consistent part of the first team until he picked up an injury at Oldham at the end of October, but found things a little harder when he got back to fitness, making only one further league start before he was recalled by Huddersfield in the January transfer window. He was then loaned to League One Plymouth, where he struggled for first team chances. PLAYING RECORD:
