A Guadeloupan international defender, Comminges signed a one year deal in July 2007 at the end of a successful trial period at Swindon, after helping his national side unexpectedly reach the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup over the summer. He made his debut as a substitute on the opening day of the season - replacing Sofiane Zaaboub on the left side of midfield, Comminges giving some glimpses of the attack minded play and high energy levels that endeared him to the Town's fans over the year. Though it took him some time to settle into the style of English football, defeat against Yeovil in September prompted manager Paul Sturrock to thrust Comminges into the starting lineup on the right side of defence - though it wasn't until the following month that he really got his chance, when regular full back Jack Smith suffered a dislocated shoulder. He quickly formed a partnership along the right flank with Jon-Paul McGovern - Comminges' pace allowing him to overlap on regular occasions, and also to supply good quality balls into the box. By the time Comminges was called up to play for Guadeloupe against Trinidad and Tobago in February, he had made the right back position his own - though injury to Jamie Vincent meant that he would become a regular on the left side before the season was out. New boss Maurice Malpas seemed keen to extend his contract. At first, it seemed as though Comminges would sign - and in early April, a two year deal was all but agreed, only for Comminges to stall the deal. Two weeks later, Malpas indicated that he was losing patience with Comminges' hesitation in signing - shortly before the club were informed by his agent that he would in fact be signing for Cardiff City - a claim that the Bluebirds initially denied. In the meantime, Comminges picked up a clean sweep of the Player of the Year awards - and in thanking the Town fans for making his first season in English football "feeling like home", he claimed that the move to Cardiff was not a foregone conclusion. Nevertheless, he left the club at the end of his contract, and signed for the Welshmen shortly afterwards - with Town chairman Andrew Fitton stating that he had been lured there by his agent, and that the club could have done no more to keep him.
