Chris CASPER

Signed on loan from Manchester United in his last full season at Old Trafford, Casper was a member of a youth team that included David Beckham, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers. He had an eventful spell at the County Ground, playing in Swindon’s better period of the 1997/1998 season, when the Town topped the table, and scoring an important second goal in a 2-1 home win against Tranmere Rovers. Casper went on to play for rivals Reading, but sadly his career was cut short after a career ending tackle by Cardiff’s Richard Carpenter on Boxing Day 1999, when aged just 25.
