Frank BURROWS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A tough-tackling, commanding defender, Burrows was signed before the successful 1968/69 season for £12,000 from Scunthorpe. He made nearly 300 league appearances at the heart of the Town's defence, after replacing former Town captain Mel Nurse. After eight years at Swindon as a player, he moved into the backroom staff in 1975/76, when he became the first team coach. From there, he joined Portsmouth, first as an assistant manager, then he went on to become manager, appointing former Town player Jack Smith as his assistant. From there, he has had spells at Swansea, West Ham, Cardiff and West Brom. Now, Burrows is always one of the favourites whenever Town have a change of manager. PLAYING RECORD:
