Marlon BROOMES

Signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers in early 1997, Broomes benefitted from his spell at Swindon - and after being drafted into the England U-21 set-up, he played in a 0-0 draw against Switzerland, in a match played at the County Ground. In addition to impressing in his central defensive role, Broomes scored a screamer for the Town in a good 3-1 home win against Birmingham City, and after his loan spell ended, Broomes began to break into the Blackburn first team, until Graeme Souness took over as manager. Once again, Broomes found himself out on loan, and eventually he left Ewood Park permanently.
