Louie BARRY | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Signed on loan from Aston Villa at the tail end of January 2022, eighteen year old forward Barry came with a pedigree that would turn heads at Crufts - having been part of Barcelona’s La Masia academy as a sixteen year old playing in the U19 side, before returning to his native West Midlands to join Aston Villa, the club he supported. He spent the first part of the 2021/2 season on loan at Ipswich Town, where he found game time hard to come by, leading to his return to Villa and subsequent loan one division lower with Town. Possessed of excellent technical skill, Barry's slight frame was not a natural fit for League Two. He made his debut from the bench at home to Crawley, before his first start against Scunthorpe ten days later. In total he made sixteen Town appearances, scoring six goals including a brace of braces - against Walsall and Harrogate, but despite flashes of brilliance, he blew hot and cold as might be expected from a youngster having his first run of games in men’s football. He returned to Villa after the Town’s playoff campaign came to an end. PLAYING RECORD:
