A Belgian midfielder who joined on a free from Watford toward the end of the 2000/01 season, Bakalli signed on a short-term deal in an attempt to win an extended deal at the season's end. He was named on the bench several times, but he made his one and only appearance for Swindon on the final day of the season away at Stoke City.
