Keshi ANDERSON | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Luton born Anderson first joined the Town on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace in August 2017, making his debut in a 4-1 home defeat to Barnet two days later - he netted his first goal for the club in the middle of September in a 3-2 win versus Stevenage. Impressive performances early in the campaign playing in a central attacking midfield role persuaded manager David Flitcroft to pay an undisclosed fee to sign him on a permanent two-and-a-half year deal in January 2018 - but after his signing, from the end of January, Anderson was substituted in all but one of the matches he started - and after Flitcroft left the club to be replaced by Phil Brown, Anderson found himself benched for much of the final part of the season. Anderson started the 2018/19 campaign in a new role on the left side of an attacking three, but though he showed occasional flashes of brilliance, he did not hit the heights expected of him - and come the end of the season, after issues with his off-field discipline that prompted now manager Richie Wellens to deny him a place on a pre-season tour to Spain, Anderson found himself on the transfer list - Wellens eager to free up Anderson's significant wage packet to fund other attacking targets. When no bids were forthcoming, Anderson managed to force his way back into the Wellens' plans - and he surprisingly started the first game of the season, netting the Town's second to wrap up the game at Scunthorpe. Despite a niggling hamstring injury, Anderson became a key member of a side that went on to win the League Two title. A superb 25 minute hat-trick on Boxing Day against Cambridge proved to be his last goals in a Town shirt - his hamstring injury keeping him out for two months, and soon after his return, a global pandemic brought the season to a premature end. After Town were awarded the title, Anderson announced that he would be leaving the club rather than signing a new contract offer - on the same day, he signed for Blackpool on a two year contract.
