Coca-Cola Cup - Third Round
Wednesday, October 23, 1996

Manchester United Swindon Town
K.Poborský (20'), P.Scholes (72')
HT: 1-0 P.Thorne (52')
Attendance:  49,305   Referee:  N. Barry

Eight thousand Town fans travelled to Old Trafford to see this Coca-Cola Cup tie - and though Peter Thorne equalises Karel Poborsky's strike, Paul Scholes wins it for the Red Devils. The following day at work, I had the mickey taken out of me for supporting a team that lost to "Man Utd Reserves".... even though their team had six internationals playing!!
