Match report posted by simgeo  (view the full thread on the forum view thread)

First attempt at a match report so please bear with me.
Anyhow, an atrocious first half other than Cox`s goal. Comminges and Blackburn were in real trouble as ex-Swindon man Kuffour terrorised them at times. Easton was shackled to a man-marking job on Anderton and as such didn`t really get into the game to protect the defenders or attack the opposition half. Bournemouth`s number 14 struck well to beat Smith and we were very lucky to escape with even scores when the ref blew for the interval.
However, I don`t know what Sturrock said to them at half time but he held faith with the starting line up and it paid dividends. Cox came firing out of the blocks and although it was Paynter who was to snatch the first hat-trick I`ve seen at the County Ground in a long time, for me Cox was man of the match as he put Bournemouth on the back foot for the entire half. Easton was driving forward more. Blackburn grew in confidence making some good clearances and driving forward into midfield to set up attacks. And of course Billy Paynter made himself an instant hero. Thanks to dodgy keeper Begovic (who I had on Football Manager once and he was rubbish then too), Paynter was able to snatch his first home goal early on in the second half to relax the nervous home crowd. Then when he took a superb second goal as Bournemouth gave him acres of space. He noticably grew in belief and chased for the hat-trick which duly arrived about ten minutes from the end after more good work from Cox. Bournemouth never really got with it in the second half and made a grave error in taking off the impressive Kuffour for a big target man whose name escapes me for the time being.
What else can I say? Referee gave us naff all, but we`ve come to expect poor officials at this level. For some reason the FA thinks that relegating them down the divisions will somehow work as though judgement and eyesight work differently in the lower leagues. The linesman on the right side also seemed to be oblivious to the offside rule - at one stage penalising Cox (I think) when he was in his own half.
All in all a great result to put us back in contention in the upper regions of the table and a bit of belief engendered in the players who to their credit turned things round from a shambolic first half to run out very deserved winners.
