When the Town won 2-1 at Rochdale in March 1986, an unusual record was created. It was the Town's sixth consecutive away match - the weather causing a number of postponements at the County Ground - and the Town won all six, making it STFC's longest run of uninterrupted away victories.
Prior to the 2005/06 season, Rochdale were one of only four teams in the entire League whom the Town had yet to taste defeat against - and two of those the Town had yet to play against! The first meeting between the sides came in 1913, when Swindon travelled north for an FA Cup tie - goals from Archie Bown and Bob Jefferson securing a 2-0 win. The next meetings didn't come until Division Three was deregionalised in 1958 - meeting twice in a week, Swindon drew at Spotland, and won the return game at the County Ground.
