It's that time again.
I've dusted down my armour, polished my shield and broad sword, donned the chain mail - with the flag of Wessex emblazoned on it - and helmet, and am ready for war.
I hope the trains behave themselves tomorrow. In fact I've just realised I'll probably be on the same train as a load of Millwall fans invading Reading. No prisoners will be taken!
On arrival in the 'Don, I'll be on the hunt for Crewe fans and my opening taunt will be: "So, you call yoursleves a railway town, you northern fools...CHARGE!"
(I haven't decided whether I'll be on horeseback yet?!)
Alas, I'm fairly confident come 5pm I'll be battered, bruised, wounded and sobbing into a pint of lemonade after our crushing 3-0 defeat.
Ho-hum.
Still, you can't beat the opening day of the new football season for optimism and excitement.

I'm a little bit worried that my homepage is going to explode with the number of debutants being listed in the Stat Attack section this week....
Getting down to Swindon early tomorrow to pick up new away shirt, and tickets for Bristol City, Cheltenham and Dagenham.... hoping my pre-season optimism in buying all those tickets isn't dampened by your predicted 3-0 whopping!! |
